Blinds have become the default window covering in a lot of Dubai homes. They take up less space than curtains, they do not collect as much dust, and a good blackout roller blind will keep a bedroom dark even when the sun is up before six in June. They are also less forgiving to install. A blind that is two millimetres out of level will roll unevenly, rub on one side and eventually start to fray. A blind fitted too close to a window handle will never close properly.
BHMS installs all common types of blinds for apartments, villas and offices in Dubai. You can bring the blinds you have bought online or from a showroom, and our team will fit them, or we can help you choose the right type and size before you order.
Types of blinds we install
Roller blinds
The most popular choice. Roller blinds work well in bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens and offices, and they come in sunscreen, light-filtering and blackout fabrics. Sunscreen fabric is useful in Dubai living rooms because it cuts glare and heat while keeping the view, which matters if you are paying for a Marina, Palm or Burj Khalifa view.
Blackout blinds
For bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms. To get a near-total blackout, the blind should be fitted outside the recess with an overlap on each side, or inside the recess with side channels. We will explain the difference at the visit, so you know what to expect before you order.
Zebra or day and night blinds
Zebra blinds have alternating sheer and solid bands, so you can adjust between a soft filtered light and privacy. They are heavier than standard rollers and need a firm fixing and a perfectly level bracket line.
Roman blinds
Fabric blinds that fold up in soft pleats. They suit bedrooms and majlis rooms where you want the look of curtains with the tidiness of a blind. Roman blinds usually mount on a headrail with several brackets, and the cords need child-safety cleats, which we fit as standard.
Venetian and wooden blinds
Aluminium and faux-wood venetian blinds are common in kitchens, bathrooms and home offices. Real wood blinds look good in villas but can warp in humid bathrooms, so we usually suggest faux wood for wet areas.
Vertical blinds
Mostly used in offices and on large sliding doors to balconies or gardens, where a roller would be too wide. We fit the track, hang the vanes and set the chain so they rotate and stack evenly.
Motorised blinds
Motorised roller and zebra blinds are increasingly common in new apartments and villas. They can be battery, rechargeable or mains powered. Battery and rechargeable motors are easy to retrofit, while mains-powered blinds need a power point near the window. We install and pair the remote or hub and show you how to set the top and bottom limits.
Inside or outside the recess
Before ordering, decide where the blind will sit. An inside-recess fit looks neat and leaves the wall clear, but there must be enough depth for the bracket and the blind must clear window handles and locks. Many Dubai apartments have aluminium sliding windows with tall handles, which can stop a blind from coming down. An outside-recess fit, on the wall or ceiling above the window, avoids this and gives better light blocking, but it is more visible.
If you are not sure, send a photo of the window with a tape measure showing the recess depth. We will tell you which fit works before you spend money on the wrong size.
How to measure for blinds
For inside-recess blinds, measure the width at the top, middle and bottom of the recess and use the smallest figure. Measure the height on the left, middle and right. For outside-recess blinds, add at least 5 to 10 centimetres on each side and above the window. Write down whether the figures are recess size or blind size, because suppliers in Dubai use both, and mixing them up is the most common reason blinds arrive too narrow.
Fixing blinds on Dubai walls and ceilings
Blind brackets are small, so the fixing matters. On concrete lintels we use a hammer drill and proper plugs. On gypsum bulkheads, which are very common above windows in apartments, we use cavity anchors or find the metal frame behind the board. On aluminium window frames we avoid drilling into the frame itself where possible, since this can affect the window seal and warranty. Each bracket is set with a level so the blind runs straight.
Blinds for offices
For offices in Business Bay, Al Barsha, JLT and Dubai Internet City we fit roller and vertical blinds across full glass walls, often after hours so the team is not disturbed. Large office installs need many blinds in matching heights, so we use a laser level across the whole run.
Repairs and replacements
We also fix blinds that already exist: broken chains, snapped cords, brackets pulled out of gypsum, blinds that roll crooked, and motorised blinds that lost their limits. In rentals, landlords often ask us to replace sun-damaged blinds between tenants, and we can source plain replacements in standard sizes.
Book blind installation
Send us the number of windows, the type of blinds, and photos on WhatsApp. If the blinds are already delivered, we can usually install within a day or two, and a normal apartment with six to eight blinds is finished in a single visit. We can also hang curtains, mount a TV or fix other small jobs while we are there. See our curtain installation page if you want curtains and blinds together.

Do you sell blinds or only install them?
Mostly we install blinds you have bought. We can also source standard roller, blackout and venetian blinds if you tell us the sizes and colour.
Inside or outside the recess, which is better?
Inside looks neater, but the window must be deep enough and the handles must not block the blind. Outside the recess blocks more light and avoids handle problems.
Can blinds be fixed to gypsum?
Yes. We use cavity anchors or fix into the metal frame behind the board so the brackets hold.
Do you install motorised blinds?
Yes. Battery and rechargeable motors can be fitted anywhere. Mains-powered blinds need a power point near the window.
How long does it take?
A typical apartment with six to eight blinds is done in one visit of a few hours.
Need something else fixed too?
